The Stamp Duty dilemma
For employees moving within the UK, purchasing a property is the most important part of the move.
To the company it will be the most expensive part of the relocation. With stamp duty being at least 3% for most house buyers and the cost for the legal and mortgage aspects ever increasing, how do you decide what is fair and reasonable by way of financial support?
It is reasonable to expect that for a family with growing needs, a supported house purchase is a great opportunity to purchase a larger property. But should the company be responsible for the extra costs associated with this or would it be more reasonable to only support the purchase of a property of similar value in the new area?
